SEDEX-Registered, SMETA 4-Pillar Audited Cotton Bag Manufacturing

Norquest is a SEDEX member and completes the SMETA 4-Pillar audit - the independent ethical-trade audit covering labour standards, health & safety, environment and business ethics. In fact we were one of the earliest textile bag manufacturers to get the SEDEX audit done 10 years ago. And we have been compliant ever since. Unlike other manufacturers with multiple manufacturing units, we take care to get ALL our operating factories certified. Our SMETA report is available to your compliance team on request and to SEDEX members through the platform.

What SMETA 4-Pillar Covers

The two are often confused: SEDEX is the membership platform where ethical-trade data and audit reports are shared, while SMETA (the SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audit) is the independent audit methodology carried out against SEDEX standards. Norquest is SEDEX-registered and completes the SMETA 4-Pillar audit, which covers four pillars:

  • Fair treatment, wages, hours and freely chosen employment – including forced-labour and, where relevant, subcontracting risks.
  • Safe working conditions and systems across the workplace for our workers.
  • Environmental management in production.
  • Anti-bribery, integrity and responsible business conduct.
